What is Odia Keyboard?

Odia Keyboard is a free, browser-based typing tool that lets you write in Odia (ଓଡ଼ିଆ) using a regular English keyboard — no software to install, no account to create, no fees. Type a word phonetically like "namaskar" and it becomes ନମସ୍କାର, or use the INSCRIPT layout if you're already trained on it.

Why we built it

Odia is spoken and read by tens of millions of people, but writing it on an everyday keyboard is still awkward for most people — either because Odia keyboard layouts aren't installed on their device, or because switching input methods on a phone mid-conversation is a hassle. Odia Keyboard exists to remove that friction: open the page, start typing, and get Odia script instantly, whether you're writing a WhatsApp message, a Facebook post, or a document.

Who's behind this

Odia Keyboard is an independent project built and maintained by a solo web developer working on a small network of Odia-language tools and websites. It isn't run by a large company — it's a focused, single-purpose tool built because it was genuinely needed, and it's kept free and ad-light on purpose.

How it works

Depending on the mode you choose, Odia Keyboard either converts your typing locally in your browser, or sends the word you're typing to a transliteration service to find the best match.
