Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Odia Keyboard ("we", "this site") collects when you use it, and how it's used. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than dense legal text.

The short version

Odia Keyboard doesn't require an account, doesn't store the text you type on our servers, and doesn't sell your data. A few small preferences (like dark mode and font size) are saved only in your own browser. If you use Transliteration mode, the individual words you type are sent to Google's transliteration service to convert them to Odia script — that's the one case where your typing leaves your device. Details below.

Information stored in your browser

We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember a few preferences on your device, so the tool feels consistent the next time you visit:

• Whether you last used light or dark mode
• Your preferred font size for the typing area
• A short list of Odia words you've typed recently, so you can quickly reuse them

None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party — it stays on your device and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for odiakeyboard.com.

Text you type

What happens to your typing depends on which mode you're using:

• INSCRIPT mode and Phonetic mode convert your typing entirely inside your browser. Nothing you type in these modes is sent anywhere.
• Transliteration mode sends each word you type to Google's Input Tools transliteration service to find the best Odia match, and receives the converted word back. This means the individual words (not full sentences or your document as a whole, and not tied to your name or account) are processed by Google's servers. If this service is unreachable, we fall back to converting the word locally in your browser instead.

We do not log, store, or have access to anything you type in any mode — it exists only in your browser tab.

Third-party services we use

This site loads a small number of resources from third parties to function and to look the way it does:

• Google Fonts and Google Material Symbols — for the typefaces and icons used on this site
• Google Input Tools — used only in Transliteration mode, as described above
• Bootstrap (via jsDelivr CDN) — for page layout and styling

These providers may receive standard technical information (like your IP address and browser type) simply because your browser is requesting files from them, in the same way any website loading external resources works.

Advertising

We may display ads on this site through Google AdSense. If and when ads are shown, Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Children's privacy

Odia Keyboard is a general-audience typing tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal information from any user in the first place, this applies equally to visitors of all ages.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
